Hybrid Mom Recognized as Visionaries |
|
May 6, 2008
Stacey Smith and Linda Shapiro,
co-founders of Hybrid Mom Consulting & Media
Group, were recognized on Tuesday Night by
NAWBO (The National Association of Women
Business Owners), Long Island Chapter, with
the 2008 Visionary Award.
This award, given
annually, recognizes visionary women who
create and develop ideas outside the normal
realm.
In recognizing Stacey and Linda, NAWBO Long
Island President, Eileen Breslin, said "These
two ladies are ideal for this Visionary
Award. To be a visionary, one needs to be
imaginative and be a futurist - and that is
what they are."
Stacey Smith, speaking about the award,
called it a "Great honor that recognizes not
just our company, but all of the moms who
participate in the company, as consultants,
members or readers of Hybrid Mom. Our vision
has always been to provide services for
mompreneurs, options for moms with business
capabilities and the ability for all moms to
work, play and live without sacrificing their
families."
Smith added, quoting from Muhatma Ghandi, "BE
the change you want to see in the world."
That's what this company is doing and will
continue to do. Changing the current and
outdated model for moms who want and need to
work and desire the balance that seemed,
until this point, unattainable.

The rise of the mompreneur
The cover story in the Sept. 3 issue of U.S. News and World Report is devoted to a supposedly new trend in motherhood: the "mompreneur." Heard of her? The mompreneur is defined as one of a growing number of women who have decided that they don't want to go back to full-time work but also don't want to be full-time moms. Instead, they're negotiating flexible work schedules with their employers, based around the idea that if you get the job done, it shouldn't matter whether you're in the office full time or not. It's a new kind of working mother.
